Rooted in humanitarian principles, Me is We was created to help solve systemic issues that plague many countries that are healing from the legacy of colonialism. Founded by a Belizean native, Me is We and Menzies Philanthropic Foundation are working together to curate program offerings that deal specifically with problems currently present in not only in Belize, but around the globe.
Each program is intended to help improve the lives of adults and children through sustainability, empowerment, and support. We advocate for the rights of women and children and strive to help individuals and families find the resources they need to better their situation. Critical to our success, Me is We and Menzies Philanthropic Foundation are, is working with volunteers and organizations locally and from around the world to offer the following programs to the people of Belize.
Women in Belize face systemic disadvantages that hinder their ability to achieve independence. At Me is We Foundation, we are committed to providing resources and services that serve as a refuge for women seeking a safe environment to bloom into their full selves.
We will offer educational and vocational programs. Programs may include literacy programs for adults and children, computer classes, service technician’s certification, financial education and budgeting etc.
Nearly one third of Belize’s population is affected by poverty.
Although there is government provided healthcare, the prevalent lack of basic nutrition and inadequate water sanitation are immediate concerns for countless residents, especially in urban areas.
Me is We Foundation is working to combat these and other issues by offering health education and outreach, support for seniors, individual physical and occupational therapy, special education tutoring, clinical work and a natural healing program.
Our youth are our future. By offering mentorship, life skills training, tutoring, summer camps, counselling, and other self awareness classes , we believe that we’ll be able to inspire the young people of Belize to reconnect to their true nature and prevent them from falling into the negative influences that exist within the community. Key initiatives also include improving literacy rates, HIV/AIDS awareness, and crime and drug prevention.
Combatting the long lasting impacts of poverty is one of our main missions at Me is We. With your support, we will be able to provide upwards of 100 hot meals to children, elderly residents, and others who are in need each and every day. Additionally, our foundation will offer medical assistance and special clinics for those who are struggling to pay for additional healthcare costs. Together we can make a difference.
Financial strain and poor-performing public schools severely impact literacy in Belize. While public school education is free, annual registration fees, uniforms, books and supplies are substantial costs for families. High rates of grade repetition, a hefty dropout rate and low achievement on standardized tests plague schools nationwide. Me is We Foundation offers courses in ESL, computers and English, scholarships and other programs to counter these challenges.

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children. History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children.”
