Our Community

Conscious Community

The vision and goal of the Me Is We Social Impact Organization was created to utilize this era of innovation in the areas of new technology, regeneration, and sustainability. It has a global reach, wherein it researches and connects with those organizations that have developed successful social, ecological, economic, and regenerative programs which can be aggregated and implemented in Belize to create holistic communities that help heal and support those who live below poverty and are looking for new solutions and self-development. The Me Is We Organization looks for the best solutions that humans all over the globe have to offer so we can re-imagine, transform and even reinvent the ways our communities are built, with our Ultimate Vision being the Me Is We Village.

Me IS We was designed to work hand in hand with our sister non-profit organization, The Menzies Philanthropic Foundation, which was created to bring awareness to the most urgent needs of the local Children’s Homes and families in Belize who are in dire need of supplies, resources; training, and support; and then to become an umbrella, providing protection, procuring funding and resources to fill in the gaps, and championing their cause to a global giving community.
The Menzies Foundation and Me Is We Social Impact Organization work together to bring our ultimate vision to fruition. Our goal is to go beyond support and sustainability of the systems currently in place; we are here to usher a new paradigm of social support in Belize by creating holistic, regenerative echo-communities where Belizeans can heal, live , learn, and thrive.

The Me Is We Village will be a completely self-sustainable, regenerative eco village to support, house, heal, and educate the most under-served, at-risk, broken families, designed not only with the most cutting edge regenerative systems, but it will also align with all 17 of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.

How will the community be built?

Using a participatory nature-centered design process, we will design our community spaces using principles of biomimicry and biophilia, with earth-based sustainable and healthy materials.

This community will be built on a foundation of compassion, connection, and health, to foster a holistic container for healing and self-actualization in the context of community.

How will it be sustained?

Our community will be regenerative in all aspects. Our residents will practice and pursue a sustainable way of life, modeling this and teaching our visitors how to live in a deep relationship with the land and each other.
The majority of our food will be sourced from the permaculture gardens and island ecosystem, using the practices of agroforestry and indigenous forest farming methods. Eighty percent of the island ecology will be preserved and held in perpetuity in a community land trust to be stewarded and enjoyed by the generations to come.
Financially, we will cultivate a circular regenerative island economy that is heavily supported by our social-purpose eco-resort and retreat center.  After the initial investments supporting the purchase and development of our island, our community will be sustained through a social purpose business cooperative, and social purpose business incubation program, and investment funds.

There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children. History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children.”
